Blog 10: Even More Desmos Greatness!

In order to not make those lessons from the last lesson too short or easy, Grade 9s will also be exposed to polynomials. Both algebraically and graphically. This lesson on identifying polynomials and creating polynomials based on criteria. The lesson, but I consider it to be more like homework, asks students to use x-intercepts and direction of openings to solve for the functions that meet the criteria given. For example, the first exercise asks students to move the vertex to a spot appropriate to get the right roots, then it advances, asking students to solve for the correct function using vertex and transformations, as well as factored form.  And for students with a high ceiling (like we discussed in dealing with readiness) it brings in cubic functions, which would be new to Grade 9s.  Transformations of Lines:  https://teacher.desmos.com/activitybuilder/custom/5605bb5f00701ed10fb09314 Polynomial Equation Challenges: https://teacher.desmos.com/activitybuilder/custom/561582ecbd554ea0
